The rain held off to allow a fabulous celebration for Noosa Community Radio’s 2nd anniversary at “the J”. A traditional Welcome to Country was performed by Samantha Martin, accompanied by local documentary film maker Michael Butler on Yadaki. Seven local bands pumped out the best of their stuff to the hordes on the lawn frontage. The whole event was broadcast live to air on 101.3 for those who could not attend.
Many were quick to take up the Subscriber Drive offer of the limited edition, free, compilation CD for every new subscriber. This offer continues while stocks last. It is a double CD called Noosa Sound Waves vol2, offering 27 tracks from our local artists. All participating artists donated a track for the CD and their time for the CD launch. Stay tuned for details of another CD launch soon to be held at Peregian Originals.
Spirits were high and appetites were healthy, with lots of bacon, sausages, apples, bananas and water being scoffed by the hungry revellers. The face painting was a hit with the kids who kept two painters busy for a solid four hours. The free raffles were a hit with beautiful books as prizes.
1pm saw the salivating kids get their slice of our scrumptious anniversary cake. Then back to the music and lots of it. There was Hip Hop, Caribbean, Rock, Irish Ballads, Dub Step, and Jazz. A great day was had by all.
Many thanks to the event sponsors: Designer Desserts, La Boucherie, Tewantin Plaza Fruit and Veg, Browne’s Farm, Bakers Delight and Cooroy Mountain Spring Water and Noosa Farmer’s Market.
