101.3FM Reception Team

Our team of receptionists (these aren’t all of them) have the biggest job share in the station. Without them, some things wouldn’t happen “automatically”, such as taking phone calls, meeting visitors, putting out the rubbish at the end of the day, writing up community announcements, taking payments from new members and trainees or for renewing subscriptions and memberships as well as making sure that the presenters are kept up to date with the latest weather forecasts. Those are some of the routine tasks and each day brings a different flavour.

Each of our receptionists brings a different flavour too, all of them being from diverse backgrounds.

For example…

Pam loves life, healthy food, red wine, the beach, dancing and the great music and programs offered on 101.3FM (good on you, Pam!), also her family of friends in Noosa/Tewantin and team mates at Noosa Community Radio….not necessarily in that order.

You can see Pam enjoying her red wine below. She’s on the right and Marg, another one of the reception team, is on the left.

Now Brian… Brian and his wife, Von. They landed at the Gold Coast in 1979 and came to live in the Noosa district in 1998. With his history involving the Tobacco and Life Assurance Industries, they started a series of consulting companies in 1979, operating in various fields including supperannuation and the South East Asian markets. After six years with Noosa Coast Guard, both Brian and Von are involved with Noosa Tourism and Brian now also with 101.3FM (yay!). Brian says, “My terrible confession, apart from a crummy old clock radio on Von’s side of the bed, we do not possess a radio!!!” (No wonder Brian enjoys his time here – so he can listen to our programs to his heart’s content!)

As for Marg, she was born in Adelaide and moved to Sydney in 1983. She had some very interesting jobs there (she wouldn’t tell us the specifics of what made them interesting though), working for barristers, stockbrokers and a private boys college. Marg loves animals and has Max – a large Burmese tomcat, Emma – a Maltese silky haired terrier and Milly – a Persian Burmese kitten. “I’m also a music afficionado,” says Marg, “and particularly like the Glen Miller era, music from the fifties and Rod Stewart’s Great American Songbook, so I enjoy working at Noosa Community Radio.”
