Thank you so very much for the 2 tickets to ‘Cinderella at the Disco’. My 6 year old daughter thought it was great. Perfect for her age but I am sure my younger boys would have loved it too. All the younger siblings were jigging about to Abba and the likes. Great music and good humour. It was great for us to do something like this as we just moved to the coast last month. My daughter was on stage dancing with the other kids at every opportunity. It was a lovely to see her participating with the local kids. We will definitely be back to ‘the junction’ for future performances and I will continue to listen to Noosa community radio to learn more about what the coast has on offer for young families.

Heading to Australia for the first time, country bluegrass duo The Roys are bringing their unique style to Tamworth Country Music Festival in 2012. Harking from Massachusetts, Lee and Elaine Roy are siblings who share a unique bond and an incredible family history. Both are accomplished musicians and are known for their superb harmonies, ‘rootsy’ sound and compelling original songs. Their excitement was obvious when Gary Rice spoke to them as they prepare to embark on their first trip to the Country Music Capital of Australia.

On Wednesday 14th December we celebrated Christmas with our members at the Noosa Yacht and Rowing Club. Thanks to the Yacht Club for their generous sponsorship in the form of finger food and booking fees, the band “The Strangest Dreamers” who played for their supper and a bit of petrol (click below to hear an original track from their new EP, “Sleepwalking”) and DJ J Sun who followed the band. Thanks to all who donated for the Christmas hamper, which was won by Michael Donovan. Special recognition needs to go to the flatmate of Mark Rodriquez who took it on himself to make and donate a superb gingerbread house for us to share. See the photos. All that was left was the floor! And last, but most importantly, thanks to all who came to make the fun on the night.

Noosa Chorale brings Christmas Cheer

Hear the glorious sound of Noosa Chorale singing carols with plenty of audience participation. This year will be their 5th Christmas Cheer which is fast becoming a festive tradition in Noosa. The Bicentennial Hall will be transformed into a Christmas wonderland with the help of beautiful decorations, mood lighting and a large Christmas tree sparkling with tiny lights. The audience is seated at beautifully decorated, candlelit tables and is served in the intervals by Noosa Chorale singers. So come along and enjoy wonderful music and plenty of Christmas goodies in a relaxed and intimate atmosphere full of Christmas Cheer! “A Night at the Proms” featuring the Sunshine Coast Symphony Orchestra

Iain MacLean is the president of the Sunshine Coast Symphony Orchestra, which comprises 50 volunteer musicians from all walks of life. They rehearse every week to present some of our best-loved classical pieces at venues up and down the Sunshine Coast.
