What a beautiful day it was, as 101.3 FM celebrated The Yandina Street Festival with an Outside Broadcast. The Festival, like Noosa Community Radio, is run entirely by volunteers and raises thousands of dollars each year for the local community. About 6,000 people from throughout South-East Queensland come annually to this historic town of Yandina, which is the second-oldest town on the Sunshine Coast.

In preparation for the Yandina Street Festival Parade on the Sunday 16 August, workshops for people of all ages and abilities were held at the Yandina Community Centre for the two weeks leading up to the climax of the event on Sunday night with a galore of fireworks.

The workshops and the festival were part of Queensland’s 150 year celebrations and as one of Queensland’s oldest towns, the Yandina community will be embracing the theme “reflect on our past, and imagine our future … Green”.

Presenters Gerard Broerson, Kerry Redfern, Kris Waldron and Diet Simon, together with Harry Miller, our techno-magician were there. We were proud to be present, even though it was somewhat quiet on the day… we suspect that people were “saving” themselves for the main event the following day.
