Creative Careers Music Camp 2008

One of the performing bands at the Creative Careers Music Camp
Creative Careers Music Camp is an initiative of the
Sunshine Coast Council and is a professional program for young emerging artists that commenced
in April 2005. The program assists the creative and professional development of young artists through mentorship by local artists and arts
professionals. The model has been successfully used to develop music and film mentoring programs.
The program includes residential music summer camps and mid-year studio recordings for young people between
the ages of 12 and 15 with an
interest in music as a part-time or full-time career.
In 2008, the Music Camp saw a first time partnership with Noosa Community Radio with live interviews conducted at the showcase performance
on 19 January. The concert recorded live by Creative Careers Music Mentor in Audio Engineering, Henry Glover,
also a presenter on Noosa Community Radio, featured on Noosa Community
Radio's program of events.
Music and interviews from the camp were played on the
programs The Sonus Lab, Potterwatch and The Morning Glory Breakfast Show.
We are proud that Henry Glover and fellow 101.3FM
presenter Leah Barclay were among the Music Camp mentors, while Mark "Fuzzy" Gerrett and Mark Rodriquez interviewed campers, performers and members
of the audience.
Henry Glover said, "This is the third summer camp - the other two
were great successes with nearly 300 attending the final showcase concerts. The program caters for a wide
age group and
this year, there are seven young women and 38 young men. My area is production and arrangement, live performance, pre-production for
recording and music technology. There are definitely some international music business VIPs on the coast. I think most of our listeners
would be pleasantly surprised with the quality and diverse music generated from this camp."
