Kin Kin quarry suspended!

August 4th, 2010 · No Comments · Community, Interviews, Podcasts

The company developing the controversial Kin Kin quarry has been ordered to suspend operations by the Queensland government’s Mines Inspectorate. That emerges from original government documents emailed to Diet Simon by a quarry opponent, Margaret Marshall. They were sent to her in response to her formal complaint to the Directorate and her sending in to them photographs of a blasting. This just goes to show what can be done when people stand up for what they believe in. One woman sent her photos and complaint to the right governing body and they are now forcing the issue of compliance. Kin Kin has won a reprieve for now. Stay tuned to Noosa Community Radio for further updates on the quarry and its proposed expansion. Diet presents what the mines inspectorate had to say, then Margaret Marshall talks to Mark Rodriquez.
