Hello everyone,
Noosa Community Radio proudly supports local music. Local Sunshine Coast artists feature at the Peregian Originals every 1st and 3rd Sunday of the Month. For years our team of dedicated volunteers and announcers have held a tent at this now Australian landmark event to connect with the community and the artists. Our presence helps to promote the station as well. We sell CD’s and merchandise for the artists performing there and provide a raffle prize consisting of a copy of Noosa Sound Waves CD including free membership.
This is our method of connecting with people while maintaining sponsorship of the event. Recently we had a bumper sticker made and circulated, which promoted our support of the event. Program presenters Therase Burke (Cosmic Breeze), Kris Waldron (A little Peace of my World), Chris Lofven (Sideshow Alley) Jacqui Burns and Benny Twoshoez (Local Earth), Rob Maitland (The Back Door Step) promote the event on air prior to up coming events and play local artists such as OKA, featured at a recent Peregian Originals.
The recent victory over disputes with residents and council is a monumental success for Peregian Originals but the hard work continues for event organisers and its founding co-ordinator Jay Bishoff. The latest issue, regarding the organisers attempts to comply with council’s stricter concert requirements, is currently being thrashed out. We hope to bring you an interview with Jay on that shortly.
101.3 FM Presenters Mark Rodriquez and Diet Simon have been vigilant in their stand to keep the community up-to-date with developments (search “Peregian Originals” on this site) and will be bringing more frequent updates as they become our roving reporters. Watch this space.
Our mission is to broadcast the music and viewpoints that others don’t, won’t or can’t and to promote and support local talent, community activities and participation through the medium of radio. (click on photos to enlarge)
