Jackie was born in Penang Malaya during the colonial era. She grew up in Nairobi, Kenya and spent her entire childhood in Africa. She went to London when aged 18 and life was a magical mystery tour, working in fashion in Carnaby Street and living off the Kings Road, Chelsea. Her family left Kenya in the seventies to start a new life in Australia. Living in Melbourne she met her husband and together they built a 40foot yacht. Pregnant and looking like a full blown spinnaker, she birthed and the family lived and sailed on their yacht until it was time to let their little girl know that she was actually a land mammal and not a mermaid. Jackie and her family lived on the Gold Coast for two years and then went to Adelaide where she and her husband established a furniture business and renovated historic homes in their spare time. When their daughter left home at eighteen to explore the world they went to far North Queensland and built and ran a beachfront resort in Mission Beach for five years.
In 2003 they went to Panama and lived on a deserted island where Jackie wrote her memoir in order to not go insane! Three years later they went to Brazil where they worked in an orphanage run by the sisters of charity. Returning to Australia in 2009 Jackie hopes to plant her feet firmly in this magnificent part of the world, Noosa. She believes music is a universal gift for all to enjoy and she feels extremely privileged to be a part of Noosa Community Radio and the larger community.
