‘Tis the season to be jolly…and what a jolly bunch we are! The Noosa Community Radio Christmas Party went off with a huge bang. The halls were decked, the PA cranked to 11, and the spirit of Christmas flowed abundantly.
Christmas is time of sharing all the joys of humanity and nothing is more special than seeing the happy faces of children as Santa comes into view on the back of a ute. Santa looked a little lost for a moment as he did his tough laps around the oval of the AFL Footy grounds, but soon found his way as the screaming throng of young fans made sure they were not to be missed. Santa gave out his gifts and left to return to the North Pole and get ready for the big day. Big thanks to Santa for dropping by on our gathering and sharing his Christmas joy.
As the dusk descended into evening, the sky came alive with the spectacular fire feats of the Sensory Circus Tribe. With their tribal inspired performance of fans of fire, fiery whips and the amazing act of a blistering hoola-hoop, flame queens Karyn and Jill entranced and astounded. Many thanks for their outstanding performance.
Then the spot raffles began and the prizes starting rolling out. Julie and Mel, our raffle gurus did a great job of getting everybody on board. Some of highlights, to name but a few…and there were many, would have to be; Lawrence Russell winning the pass to Australia Zoo, Mark Rodriquez winning the hair-do voucher, Dave Freeman won the 2 day passes to the Woodford Folk Festival and Harry winning the Christmas Party crackers from the adult shop. The raffles raised over $500 and will continue until Christmas Eve when we will draw the wheelbarrow full of goodies and gift vouchers from our sponsors. Big kiss to Sherry Corcoran and Derek Webb for keeping the wheels turning on the raffles.
The entertainment continued with the first band of the night, PJ Party. That’s my band! We had a lot of fun playing and big hugs to my son Dylan D’Angio on bass and Mitch Francis on drums, Mark Laidler on sound, and of my beautiful man Pete Briggs on guitar. We hope you all enjoyed it too!
More music as DJ Mick rolled out some tunes amongst more spot raffles. Delicious food was spread before the crowd with Gavin and Pete cooking up a storm on the BBQ, and lots of tasty bits from the Lebanese Shack and the Dili Deli.
Then the headliner of the night took to the stage with an almighty performance from the Tina Turner Tribute Show. And they sure know how to put on a show! The entire venue was alive with a dazzling display from ‘Tina’ and her super tight band.
As the evening fizzled and the children well in their beds, the clean-up was quick and painless. I am left with sense of what it is to be a part of a community and to share the spirit of Christmas. To everyone who gave so generously, I am grateful and humbled by your kindness. To all our sponsors, the AFL Noosa Tigers and the Tina Turner Tribute Show, immense gratitude for your contribution that made our 101.3FM Christmas party such a raging success.
Much love and Merry Christmas from 101.3FM
