Noosa Community Radio 101.3FM

Youth

Youth membership has gone up, thanks to Miki Venn-Brown (our previous Vice President) and Sherry Corcoran (our current Vice President) with "Ten to Air" - the Pilot Training and Mentor Program for disadvantaged youth which included studying a Cert III in Broadcasting.

Some of the activities that included youth at the station were:

  • Interviewing the School Captain for Noosa District, on Overdrive, as well as the ZONTA organisation, on young women achiever awards.
  • A course run by Angel Satchwell, who started broadcasting with Noosa Community Radio in 2002, at the age of 15; she conducted two sessions of vocal and interview training for Brosnan Models.
  • Featuring the "Tiggers" group from St Andrews in Peregian on Overdrive for their environmental campaign.

Journalism student, Carlos Robinson, has stepped up and is now our youth representative for 2007-8. Carlos joined the station through the Pilot Training run at the beginning of 2007 and has a radio program "Potterwatch" which airs Friday evenings from 9 p.m.. He also regularly selects, writes and reads local news and helps out with station publicity.

If you would like to join the youth network at 101.3FM please call the station on 5447 2233, or email youth@noosacommunityradio.org
