We have some of the youngest presenters on radio and we encourage youth to join us and become involved in 101.3FM.
In previous years we piloted a Training and Mentoring Programs for disadvantaged youth (“Ten to Air”) which included studying a Cert III in Broadcasting.
Some of the other activities that included youth at the station were:
- Interviewing the School Captain for Noosa District, on Overdrive, as well as the ZONTA organisation, on young women achiever awards.
- A course run by Angel Satchwell, who started broadcasting with Noosa Community Radio in 2002, at the age of 15; she conducted two sessions of vocal and interview training for Brosnan Models.
- Featuring the “Tiggers” group from St Andrews in Peregian on Overdrive for their environmental campaign.

The major newspaper in our area, the Sunshine Coast Daily reported on our youngest presenters who are only 11 years old.
“Watch out Triple J off-the-wall duo Dools and Linda – Eliza and Anna of The J just could be about to knock you off your on-air perch.”

The twice-weekly Noosa News reported on the mentoring project “Ten2Air” which ran from 2006 to 2007. It helped participants to develop new skills, gave them a nationally recognised qualification and raised their self-confidence and community awareness, all while producing their own radio programme.
